What Is the Restock Report?
The Restock Inventory Report has historically provided recommendations designed to help sellers determine when and how much FBA inventory to replenish.
Information can include recommended quantities and suggested ship dates based on inventory and demand.
Important Update
Amazon has announced that the Restock Inventory report is being phased out as its important metrics are incorporated into the newer FBA Inventory report.
Amazon says the consolidated FBA Inventory report includes information such as sales over different time periods, shipment statuses, inventory across the fulfillment network, recommended restock units, excess inventory, aging inventory, and recommended actions.
What Does This Mean for Sellers?
If you previously relied on the Restock Report, begin becoming familiar with Amazon's consolidated FBA Inventory reporting.
The newer report is intended to provide a single source for many of the inventory metrics that previously required separate reports.
Should You Follow Amazon's Restock Recommendation Exactly?
Not necessarily.
Amazon's recommendations can be useful, but you should also consider:
Your actual sales history
Seasonal demand
Current inventory
Supplier availability
Lead time
Storage capacity
Your own purchasing strategy
For one-off used books and media, traditional restock recommendations may be less useful than they are for replenishable products.
