How to conduct and track assessments

Updated over 3 months ago

Assessments are the core function of MyClass, enabling teams to evaluate safety risks and compliance within a campus, building, or specific room. This guide will help you understand how assessments work and how to track their progress.

What is an Assessment?

An assessment is a structured evaluation designed to identify potential risks and ensure safety compliance. Each assessment consists of a series of questions that users must complete for an assigned area.

Key Elements of a MyClass Assessment:

  • Assigned Areas- Locations where the assessment takes place (Campus, Building, Room).

  • Area Questions- A structured checklist or dynamic questionnaire.

  • Follow Ups- Issues flagged for further review or action.

  • Supporting Media- Photos or notes to support responses.

Assessment Status & Tracking Progress

Assessments in MyClass can be categorized based on their completion status:

  • In Progress- The assessment has started but is not yet completed.

  • Completed- All required responses have been submitted.

  • Overdue- The assessment was not finished by its assigned deadline.

You can monitor assessment progress from the Home Screen or within the Assessments screen.

Areas & Questions

What is an Area?

An area represents a specific location within a campus that requires evaluation. These can be:

  • Campus Level- The school or institution as a whole.

  • Building Level- A single building within the campus.

  • Room Level- A specific room such as a classroom, office, storage area, etc.

What are Area Questions?

Each area contains a set of structured questions that guide the assessment process. These may include:

  • Yes/No questions

  • Text responses

  • Image uploads for verification and evidence documentation of compliance or hazards.

Questions adjust dynamically based on previous answers, ensuring a thorough and efficient assessment.

Question Follow-Ups

During the assessment, you may need to flag certain issues for further review.

Flagging an Issue:

  • For a specific question, select the "Follow Up" icon (circle with checkmark).

  • Provide a brief description of the issue.

  • Upload supporting media (if necessary).

  • Assign the follow-up to a team member with a due date.
