You can check this article if you want to learn how the Putaway screen is working.

What is Putaway?

The Putaway process refers to an item's stock transfer that occurs between 2 different locations. The main idea is to move the stock item by item between locations.

Why and When Putaway?

1. After Receiving

If you have a receiving ramp or a different location for received items, you'll need to distribute items to storage locations in the warehouse.

In this case, you need to use the Putaway screen to place items in the new locations.

2. Same Goods in Same Locations

Bringing an item's stock together may be the best-optimized way for your operation. So, you'll need to get items from different locations and bring them to the same location.

To make this transfer operation, you need to use the Putaway screen to make the operation accurately.

3. Damage Item Transfer

You may notice there is a damaged product in a certain location. And let's assume that, you have one special location for storing the damaged products.

To move any damaged item to a specific location, you can use the Putaway screen.

4. After Picking is Cancelled

Somehow, picking tasks can be canceled on the Shipment Order screen. When the picking process is canceled, the picked items remain on the picking location.

For example, for a sales order, 3 Mouse Pads and 2 Mouses should be picked to ship. Let's assume that, a picker picked 2 Mouse Pads only and put them on the Tote12. 1 Mouse Pad and 2 Mouses are still waiting to be picked on the storage locations. In this case, when the picking process is canceled for the order, the picked 2 Mouse Pads will remain on the Tote12.

So in this case, you need to change these picked items' locations from picking locations (Tote12) to a storage location. To complete this operation, you need to use the Putaway screen to not to create any inaccuracy.
