A VCU stands for a Verified Carbon Unit.
1 VCU is equal to 1 New Zealand Unit (NZU).
A NZU is what a carbon credit is called in the Emissions Trading Register under the Emissions Trading Scheme.
So each one of your VCUs represents an NZU that we hold on bare trust on your behalf in our Emissions Trading Register Account.
We differentiate the NZUs on MyNativeForest as VCUs for two reasons:
We verify that forests registered with us, are permanent native forests and are registered that way under the Emissions Trading Scheme.
Native forest NZUs trade at a premium above the NZU spot price.
