Given that your VCUs are representations of NZUs that are registered in the ETS, you always own the underlying carbon unit. The NZUs are accounted for on the NZ Emissions Trading Register (NZETR) and are virtualised on our app.
The NZUs are held in our company NZETR account on bare trust on your behalf.
Your cash in your Wallet is held seperate from our operational accounts on bare trust on your behalf.
Under our terms and conditions, we are only allowed to move your NZUs or cash when given written directions from you (this could also be through the use of a function within the app i.e. Withdraw)
If MyNativeForest goes out of business:
your NZUs would be transferred to your NZETR account (which anyone is eligible for and you would need to set up if you did not have one)
your cash would be transferred back to your registered bank account
You would then be able to hold and sell your NZUs via other platforms or markets.
