Set expectations upfront and agree on cancellation policies

Cancellations happen and it's important to set expectations upfront.

  • Cancellation policies are determined by the host

  • If a host does not send you a cancellation policy, ask for one before confirming your stay

Cancellation policies should answer the following questions:

  • What happens when a guest cancels? (specifically when deposits/payments have already been exchanged)

  • What happens when host cancels? (specifically when deposits/payments have already been exchanged)

Policy examples:

  • If guest cancels: 50% non-refundable deposit required to confirm stay -

  • If host cancels: Any payments made in advance are returned to guest within 48 hours
