Before you start to upgrade your firmware:
Make sure that you have a stable connection between the router and your computer. It is NOT recommended to upgrade the firmware wirelessly.
Back up your router configuration before upgrading the firmware
DO NOT turn off the router during firmware upgrade
How to update my firmware?
For deco, you can update through the Deco mobile app. For all TP-Link routers (including Deco), you can go to the management portal to upgrade your firmware.
For Deco M5 and M9 Plus
Go to your Deco mobile app
Log in with the password you've set
Select Update
Wait for a few minutes for the upgrading & rebooting to be done

For all TP-Link Routers
Download the latest firmware from TP-Link Download Center
Save the downloaded file on your desktop (or somewhere in your computer where you can locate)
Visit your management portal
Log in with the password you set for the router
Go to Advanced > System Tools > Firmware upgrade
Focus on the "Device Information" section. Make sure the downloaded firmware file matches with the Hardware Version.
Go to Local Upgrade section > Click "Browse" to locate the downloaded new firmware file

Wait for a few minutes for the upgrading & rebooting to be done
Back Up and Restore Configuration Settings
For all TP-Link routers
Backing Up:
Visit your management portal
Log in with the password you set for the router
Go to Advanced > System Tools > Backup & Restore
Click "Backup" to save a copy of your current settings to your local computer. A conf.bin file will be stored in your computer

Restoring the configuration settings:
Visit your management portal
Log in with the password you set for the router
Go to Advanced > System Tools > Backup & Restore
Under Restore, click "Browse" and locate the backup configuration file (conf.bin)
Click "Restore"

Wait a few minutes for the restoring & rebooting
