When you do a farm walk, this data should be entered into the Pasture module. This module collects information about your current pasture situation on the farm. It’s up to you whether you enter information from your most recent farm walk or the farm walk that best reflects your pasture at the report date. All the fields need to be filled in, and include:

Based on the actuals from the day of your farm walk

  • Average pasture cover (kgDM/ha)

  • Pre-grazing pasture mass (kgDM/ha)

  • Post-grazing pasture mass (kgDM/ha)

An average for the reporting period

  • Growth rate (kgDM/ha/day)

  • Area offered (ha/day)

Once you’ve entered the farm walk data, click the blue Calculate & Save Progress button at the bottom of the section. This calculates the Round Length and Adjusted Round Length which you can use to check that the data you entered is correct.

Don’t forget! The Adjusted Round Length is the area offered (ha/day) divided by the area in rotation, to exclude land areas not currently in the grazing rotation.
