What’s the application process?

I'm a tutor article! Learn how to become a MyTutor tutor, from submitting your application to completing your onboarding and starting tutoring.

How do I apply?

Start by signing up here

You'll then receive an activation email allowing you to log in to your new account and complete your application.

We'll review your application and let you know the outcome. We may:

  • ask for more information

  • invite you to interview

  • let you know that you don't currently meet our requirements

What happens if I'm invited to interview?

If you're invited to interview, you'll spend some time preparing and recording your responses.

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • your physical ID documents ready

  • a smartphone available for the digital ID check

  • a device with a working camera and microphone

  • a reliable internet connection

You can complete your interview using a phone, tablet or computer.

What happens after I pass my interview?

If your interview is successful, you'll need to complete the remaining onboarding steps:

  • apply for a DBS with us, or submit an existing DBS if eligible

  • provide referee details for your reference checks

  • create your tutor profile

  • agree to our Terms and Conditions

  • complete your training

When can I start tutoring?

If your reference checks are completed during onboarding, you'll be able to start tutoring on the Schools Programme straight away.

If your reference checks are not completed during onboarding, you'll automatically move to the Private platform during your first week after completing the rest of your onboarding.

If you'd still like to tutor on the Schools Programme, you'll need to have two references approved within 12 weeks of your DBS being approved.

If your references aren't approved within 12 weeks, you'll need to apply for a new DBS before you can tutor on the Schools Programme.
