I’m concerned about a pupil

I'm a Tutor article! You might come across sensitive or concerning information, we want to ensure you feel confident about the next steps.

Updated over a week ago

Safeguarding and pupil welfare is one of MyTutor’s top priorities.

As a tutor working with children, you have a responsibility to pass on concerning information - but you’re not expected to handle this alone.

We have a dedicated Safeguarding team who will handle anything that you report. They’ll deal with each issue sensitively and in complete confidence.

If you see something that concerns you, here’s what to do:

  • Identify your concern.

    • You might notice something in your pupil’s behaviour, or your pupil might choose to disclose some information that you find concerning or sensitive.

  • Try to remember any details as accurately as possible.

  • Report the concern via our private & secure safeguarding platform (CPOMS - our Child Protection Management System).

  • Once you’ve reported the concern using CPOMS, our safeguarding team will receive an alert that a new incident has been reported.

    • On your homepage, you’ll see any concerns you’ve reported. As well as the details about the student, the status and which member of the safeguarding team is handling it.

  • If we have an update about your concern, you’ll receive an email asking you to log in and view it. You’ll usually get an update between 24-48 hours after you submit a concern.

    • The MyTutor safeguarding team will triage all incidents that come in, so, in busy times, if your concern has been classed as ‘low risk’, it may take up to 3 days for them to reply.

  • Take care when submitting a concern. You can’t go back and edit it afterwards. If you do want to add something extra or make an adjustment, you’ll need to submit a new concern. Let us know, and then we’ll merge them together for you.

Please contact us if you have a concern, no matter how big or small!
