WHAT IS A GROUP COLLABORATIVE?

A group collaborative is a live stream that allows you to work with a group of students where everyone can see and hear each other. This works well for yoga teacher training or other group work where you want your participants to interact with each other. You must have a paid Zoom account to use the group collaborative live-stream function.

You can add a group collaborative live-stream event to any product type (media library products/memberships, and courses). You simply create and schedule the live stream inside your product through the calendar tab. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to create the group collaborative live-stream event.

INTEGRATING WITH ZOOM

We chose to integrate Zoom for our teacher's group collaborative sessions because they are the industry leaders with video conferencing. Before you can set up a group collaborative live stream, you must integrate your Marvelous site with your paid Zoom account. How to do this is explained in this article.

HOW TO CREATE A GROUP LIVE-STREAM

To create an event navigate to "Calendar" > "Events" and click the "+ ADD EVENT" button.

After clicking the Add Event button under Event type select "Collaborative Group Event"

Note: If you have multiple Zoom accounts connected, make sure to select the Zoom account you want to use. If no account is selected the default will be used to host the event.

HOW THE STUDENTS ACCESS YOUR LIVE-STREAM

Once you have scheduled your event, the students that have purchased this product will see the scheduled live-event in their "Events" or "Calendar" tab in their Marvelous account. See this article to learn more about the students and live-streaming.

HOW TO START THE LIVE-STREAM

When you are ready to initiate the live-stream head back to the "Calendar" tab, select the specific event, and select "Start Zoom Meeting".

Once you start a session, the Zoom window will open.

  • To create a recording: the default is SET TO RECORD the session. If you do not want a recording, uncheck the "Recording" box.

  • Camera and mic: turn your camera on and off by clicking the icons in the bottom, left corner.

  • Chat Box: your students can chat during your live stream.

HOW TO END THE LIVE-STREAM

To end the session, you can click "End Meeting".

If you click on "End Session" in the Marvelous window or "End Meeting" in the Zoom window during the session, you can not re-join it. You must return to the calendar and click on "Start session" again to start a new session.

WHERE DO I ACCESS THE RECORDING?

After you're finished and the session has ended, the recording of your session will be in your media library. You can put the video into any of your products.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Error: "If you are the meeting host, sign in to start the meeting

Solution: Login to your Zoom account on the browser that you are using to live-stream.

Error: "You cannot start the meeting because it is hosted by another user"

Solution: Create a new event in Marvelous. You cannot start a Zoom meeting more than once.

If you try to test the Zoom live stream prior to the actual live stream and the Zoom window opens, and then at the actual time of the live stream, you attempt to go live with the same event, you will get this error.
