A rebalance is a series of trades that take place in a client account to ensure positions stay aligned with their selected model Portfolios and Baskets. This process allows the account to accurately mirror updated weights, new additions, or exits within a strategy. Plutus executes these trades automatically to maintain the intended strategy and risk profile without the need for manual monitoring or individual trade execution.
Provider Updates
Providers rebalance on a regular schedule (e.g., monthly or quarterly) or in response to significant economic shifts. Once a provider submits an update, Plutus initiates the rebalance to mirror those changes in your brokerage account automatically.
β
Rebalance Speed & Security
For maximum security, every rebalance undergoes a comprehensive QA and security verification to ensure portfolio integrity and healthy liquidity across all positions. This verification is typically completed in less than an hour, at which point the trades are executed.
The Benefit of Automation
Because these trades are fully automated, your holdings stay aligned with your chosen strategy without any manual action required on your part. Whether the market moves or a provider pivots, your account stays synced to your goals.
Note on End of Day (EOD) Rebalances: Plutus executes trades using live market prices only during active trading hours. For providers that modify portfolios and baskets after the US close (such as Citrini Research), changes are queued and executed during the next trading session.
β
βFor example, if Citrini Research adds a new 5% position in MSFT after the US close, our system queues the rebalance in your brokerage account. Once the next trading session begins the following morning, the position is filled using live market prices during active trading hours.
