Nativo + Google AMP Integration Steps
1. Add AMP Tag to Page
Add the amp-ad tag(s) with type="nativo" onto the page. This tag should be placed in the exact location on the AMP page where ad is desired.
Example AMP Tag
<amp-ad type="nativo" width="350" height="350" layout="responsive" data-request-url="article_url_goes_here"> </amp-ad>
👍Nativo AMP Tag Best Practices
The article url should be dynamically passed into the data-request-url of the amp ad tag. If you use a querystring parameter to designate amp pages (such as ?amp=true) then make sure to include this as well when dynamically passing the article url.
Define
width
andheight
attributes and useresponsive
layout. You can find more information on "layout" at AMP HTML Layout System page. The height and width are exactly how the unit will render. It’s up to the publisher to decide what dimensions they’d like to use. This approach will maximize the potential revenue from your AMP placements — please reach out to your Platform Success Manager with any questions.
2. Provide your Platform Success Manager with the AMP page URL
Once Nativo can verify the integration is working, the Nativo design team will build out the placement and styling. Please provide any mocks or styling guidance on how you would like the placement to look.
FAQ
Is there a recommended dimension for the iframe specific to Nativo amp-ad tag?
We recommend the iframe height be at least 350px in order to accommodate the space required to add all of the components (preview image, disclaimer, title, byline). What happens when no ad is returned for AMP placement?
Nativo will collapse the AMP unit (iframe) if no ad is returned. However, on rare occasions, if the user scrolls quickly to the AMP placement location before Nativo can collapse the unit, the white space will remain. Can I use multiple AMP placements?
Yes, Nativo supports multiple AMP ads. To set up multiple AMP placements, separate amp-ad tags with a uniquedata-request-url
. Each placement will need to be implemented in the desired location on the AMP page(s).The Nativo reporting tool shows 100% fill rate. Is this correct?
Due to the nature of the AMP framework, Nativo is only able to track inventory when the amp ad tag is called by Google. This means that inventory and impressions will show the same number, and the fill rate will show approximately 100%. In order to check the real inventory value for AMP sections, Nativo provides an inventory reporting metric called Monetizable Page Views. Dividing Impressions Served/Monetizable Page Views will provide a fill rate estimate for AMP sections. How can I preview an AMP placement?
Due to the nature of the AMP framework, traditional preview links do not work. In order to preview an AMP placement, we recommend using a url redirect/rewrite extension such as Requestly.
Add the following Query Parameter modification if request URL contains https://jadserve.postrelease.com/t then **add parameter ntv_tm with value tout.
Visit an AMP page on your site (please emulate mobile view) and turn on Requestly.
Note: Remember to turn off Requestly after you are done testing on AMP, as this URL modification rule will override previewing other placements including traditional web.
Requestly rule setup
The above rule will render the Nativo Test Campaign for the ad unit.
