No 'Take card payment' button

On the appointment/sale record, there should be a [Take card payment] button in the Payment box:

If this is missing, go to Settings > In-Store Card Reader and make sure to enable the feature:

Unable to pair the app and reader

  • Device settings: Check the settings on your mobile device and ensure that both Bluetooth and Location Services are enabled:

  • Reader battery: Make sure the reader is not low on battery and needs charging. It is recommended to keep the reader's battery above 50% and charge it at the end of each working day to preserve its performance.

  • Reader is already paired: Bluetooth pairing is 1-to-1. If the reader is shared between staff, is it already paired with another mobile device? If so, then unpair the other device via the Card Payments app by clicking the 3 lines and then clicking disconnect.

If sharing the reader, we recommend pairing it with a shared mobile device (e.g. a shop tablet). Alternatively, you can consider getting multiple card readers.

Taking payment prompts 'Download the payments app'

If this shows when tapping [Take card payment] on the appointment/sale record, and you are using an Android device:

Check the below in the device settings to ensure that payment links open with the Card Payments app. These options/steps may differ for Android devices from other manufacturers:

Redoing the setup

If issues persist, try uninstalling the Card Payments app and reinstalling it via one of these links:

To reset the card reader, use e.g. a paper clip to press the button inside the pinhole next to the charging port:

Then follow these steps:

  1. Turn on the reader.

  2. Enable Bluetooth and Location Services on your mobile device.

  3. Open the Card Payments app and register your shop details. Allow permission for Location Services if prompted as it is required for the app to function.

  4. Tap [Connect to Reader] to find the reader (beginning with 'WPC...') and pair the two via Bluetooth. The first connection may update the reader's software which can take 5-15 minutes to complete.
Note for Samsung users: When the software is updating, please keep both the device and reader charging until completion.

It should appear like so once connected:

Note for Android users: If you are using a Samsung device, please check the below in the device settings to ensure that payment links open with the Card Payments app:

Settings > Apps > Card Payments > Set as default > Open supported links (toggle ON) > Supported web addresses > nearcut.com | bookinbeautiful.com (toggle ON)

These options/steps may differ for Android devices from other manufacturers.
