What is Strong Customer Authentication (SCA)?
Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) is a European security requirement (under PSD2) that adds an extra layer of protection when you perform sensitive banking actions. You may be asked to confirm your identity when:
Making a payment or transfer above certain thresholds
Adding a new beneficiary
Logging into your account after a period of inactivity
Changing sensitive account settings
When SCA is triggered, you'll receive a confirmation prompt β typically via a push notification, SMS code, or in-app approval. You need to complete this step to authorize the action.
SCA protects you from unauthorized transactions. If you receive an SCA prompt for an action you didn't initiate, do not approve it and contact support immediately.
