Player data ownership

This article explains more details about how Nettla views player data ownership as well as what you can expect from us on this topic.

Defining ownership

The concept of data ownership varies depending on legal frameworks and the type of software used. Typically, this is categorized into two key roles:

• Data Controller – The entity that determines how personal data is processed

• Data Processor – The entity that processes data on behalf of the controller

When is Nettla the data controller?

Nettla only acts as a data controller in limited situations—specifically when players create user accounts within the platform. This involves:

✅ Managing the user account creation process.

✅ Storing user accounts in Nettla’s database to enable access to the app.

This is necessary to ensure players can log in, interact with clubs, and make purchases, but beyond this, Nettla does not control or use player data for any other purpose.

When Is Nettla the Data Processor?

In scenarios beyond user account creation, Nettla acts as a data processor on behalf of the operator.

✅ You, the operator, are the data controller for players in your club’s database.

✅ You have full control over your player data, including the ability to:

• Communicate with your players.

• Generate reports and analytics about player activity.

• Export player data into spreadsheets for your own records.

In simple terms: Nettla does not own your player data—you do.

Will Nettla reach out to players for our own benefits?

Unlike some other software solutions that exist in the industry, Nettla does not:

❌ Market itself directly to your players.

❌ Use your player data for our own commercial gain.

We will only contact players on your behalf or when explicitly instructed by you, the operator. Your players remain under your control.

Important Note for Operators

📌 Ensure your privacy policy clearly defines how you handle player data

• You can upload your privacy policy inside the Nettla admin platform.

• Players must agree to your terms when making purchases at your club.
