Sending Newsletters Without Tracking or in Anonymous Mode

Learn how to send newsletters without tracking or using anonymous mode. Instructions for disabling click and open rates globally or for individual campaigns.

In this article, you will learn how to fully disable or anonymously track open and click rates for your newsletters to comply with privacy requirements.

Key Parameters at a Glance

  • Global Tracking: Centralized control for all future mailings.

  • Campaign-Specific Tracking: Individual adjustments made just before sending.

  • Anonymous Mode: Aggregated performance measurement without links to individual recipient profiles.

Instructions and Functionality

Our platform offers multiple options to adjust newsletter tracking according to your data privacy needs. You can configure this in two ways:

1. Global Settings (Account-Wide)

You can manage tracking centrally for your entire account.

  • Path: Navigate to Email Settings → Tracking.

  • Function: Here, you can disable the tracking of opens and clicks globally and reactivate it at any time.

  • Impact: When tracking is disabled, no tracking parameters are included in the emails. Consequently, metrics such as click or open rates, recipient activities, and geotracking will not be recorded.

  • Please note that this change does only apply to entirely newly created mailings in your account. Already existing mailings are not affected.

2. Campaign-Specific Settings (Individual Mailings)

If you want to customize the tracking behavior for a specific newsletter, you can do so during the final step before deployment (on the review and send screen):

  • Disable Tracking: Deactivate open and click tracking exclusively for this specific mailing.

  • Enable Anonymous Mode: This option continues to track overall open and click rates but does not attribute them to individual recipients. Although tracking parameters are sent and data is collected, this information will not appear in individual recipient profiles. The campaign report will only display aggregated, anonymous summary data.
