Creating a Subscription Form

Step-by-step guide to creating online newsletter subscription forms, including Double Opt-In configuration, field selection, and design customization.

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to create an online subscription form. This form allows visitors to register for your newsletter directly through your website. It also triggers the Double Opt-In (DOI) process, which is legally required for subscriber registration.

Step-by-Step Instructions

In the main menu, navigate to "Forms" and click "New Form". The creation process consists of two primary steps.

Step 1: Basic Settings and Configuration

In the first step, you will configure the core settings for your form.

The following options are available:

  • Form Name: Assign a unique and descriptive name to your form. This ensures easy identification and efficient internal management.

  • Address Books & Groups: Determine which address books or specific recipient groups subscribers will be automatically assigned to after successful registration.

  • Double Opt-In (DOI) Mailing: Select the specific DOI mailing to be sent for subscription confirmation. Note: Linking a DOI mailing is mandatory; a subscription form cannot function without it.

  • Supported Features: Define the functional scope. You can choose whether to create a standalone subscription form or to include a recipient profile update page and an unsubscription form.

  • Subscription Form Texts: This section contains the default system messages displayed to users on the landing page during various stages of the process. You can customize these texts to suit your needs.

Step 2: Design and Field Selection

In the second step, you will customize the visual layout and data structure of your form.

Here, you select which information recipients need to provide during registration:

  • Field Selection: You can choose from all standard data fields as well as your custom-defined attributes.

  • Required Fields: The email address field is always mandatory by default. All other fields are optional but can be configured as required fields if needed.

  • Display Format: The visual input type (e.g., text field, radio button, checkbox) automatically adapts to the data type assigned to that specific attribute.

Preview, Saving, and Integration

  • Form Preview: Click the "Hosted Form" button at any time to open a live preview of the form and check its layout and functionality before publishing.

  • Embedding the form: Click the "Embed form" button to retrieve the JavaScript code needed to integrate the form into your website. For further information and detailed instructions, please refer to our help article “How do I embed and customize the registration form?”.

  • Data Preservation: Remember to save your progress regularly to prevent any loss of changes during the configuration process.
