An auto-update group (also referred to as a dynamic group) can be created in your account just like a standard, static group. To do this, navigate to Recipients → Groups → New Group in the main menu.
First, assign a unique name to your group. Then, under the group type selection, choose Auto-Update Group instead of the standard static option.
Once the auto-update feature is enabled, a search and filter interface will appear. Here, you can define the specific criteria for filtering your recipients. The system will then automatically populate the group with all contacts who match these search definitions.
Practical Examples for Dynamic Filters:
Filtering by Domain: Group all recipients who share the same email domain (e.g.,
@newsletter2go.com,@gmail.com, or@hotmail.de).Filtering by Activity: Target contacts who were sent a mailing within the last two weeks but did not open it (win-back campaigns).
Filtering by Event: Segment all recipients whose birthday falls within a specific date range to send automated birthday greetings.
Key Advantages
The primary benefit of dynamic groups over static lists is automated database maintenance. These segments automatically refresh right before any scheduled mailing goes out, strictly applying your predefined filter rules. New recipients who match the criteria are included instantly, while those who no longer meet the guidelines are removed. You only need to set up the filter once—the system handles the continuous updates completely on its own.
