Nexl helps you create targeted Marketing Lists in seconds. If you want to send a newsletter or webinar invite and need to create a new list, follow the steps below:

Create a new Marketing List

  • Navigate to "List Manager" on the left hand side panel under "Firm Wide" tools

  • Once in the list manager, click on "Create List"

  • Name your list so it is easily recognisable

  • Select if you want to create a "Dynamic List" or "Static List"

  • Click "Create"

What's the difference between static and dynamic lists?

Dynamic list

A dynamic list will automatically add any contact that match your filter criteria. If a new contact is discovered by NEXL and the contact matches your list's filter criteria, the contact will automatically be added. You can't manually remove contacts from a dynamic list.

Static list

A static list allows you to set filter criteria when first creating the list in order to find specific contacts. However, once you save the list, newly discovered contacts that may have matched those criteria won't be automatically added. You have to add contacts manually and remove contacts manually moving forward.

Setting filters for Dynamic marketing lists

For dynamic lists, you can use filter functions to search for contacts that share certain characteristics. You can filter by:

  • Contact properties (job title, city, country) for a particular person)

  • Company properties (company name, city, country, or industry). If you use company properties, any contact within a company matching the filter criteria will be included in the list. e.g. If you set Company Country as Australia, then all contacts within Australian companies will be included in the list.

  • Company type (Client, Counterparty, Court / Tribunal, Dormant, Partner, Professional Association, Prospect, Provider, Referral Source, and Other). For this to work properly, the companies in your system should be properly assigned as either a client, a prospect, etc.

  • Tags. Another way to create specific lists is using tags. You could for example create a Tag for "Top 50 Clients", and then use that particular tag to filter your contact list.

You can combine all these different filters to create very targeted audiences. More targeted audiences (i.e. lists), the more relevant your content will be perceived and the higher your response rates will be.

Example: For instance, you could create a list for all contacts located in Australia, from the Automotive Industry, that are labeled as prospects. Your email marketing platform will usually not have this information which makes it harder to create well-targeted distribution lists.

Once you have set your filters, you can save your list. This will then show all the contacts that fit this particular search. As a dynamic list, new contacts added to the system that share this profile will also be added automatically.
