What is an Outlook add-in?

Add-ins for Outlook are extensions created by third-party companies that add functionalities alongside the basic functions in Outlook. By installing and activating and add-in, you can perform actions or find information using an additional extra window that gets embedded next to your email or calendar.

Microsoft allows leading companies (like Nexl!) to build add-ins that help their customers get things done right from their inbox.

Where can I find the Nexl add-in?

The add-in needs to be installed by your IT team or administrator. If you don't see the icon in your ribbon, please contact your IT help desk or email steven@nexl.io

In Outlook's desktop application, you will find your add-ins in the ribbon of the Home tab. Just click on the icon to open up the add-in.

With an email selected, click NEXL CRM in the top ribbon.

What happens when I install the add-in?

The first time you open up the add-in, you will have to log in.

Once you are logged in, you will see in an additional window within Outlook on the right side, where Nexl will look up the Contact(s) from which you received the e-mail (or to whom you have sent an e.mail), and show various fields and buttons to better understand and manage that particular contact.

What are the benefits of using Nexl's add-in?

Direct access to Nexl from within Outlook

Nexl is primarily accessed via your web browser, using this URL: https://360.nexl.io/.

With our add-in for Outlook, however, you can access information in Nexl directly from your Outlook. So you don't have to switch from your email to your browser to access your contacts and the client intelligence offered by Nexl. This means fewer interruptions and a more seamless, integrated user experience.

Add contacts to Nexl directly from your inbox

The add-in also allows you to add new contacts to Nexl with a single click.

More detail and insight embedded in your Outlook workflow

With our add-in, you can see the contact(s) with whom you are engaging in Outlook through the Nexl lens. This gives you Nexl relationship insights directly from where you spend the most time interacting with your Contacts: your inbox!

Nexl's add-in will show key information on the Contact(s) associated with the email you're looking at.

What else can I do with the add-in?

Nearly all the functionalities of Nexl can be found in the add-in, including:

  • A quick link to your Tasks in Nexl

  • An Engagement Dashboard for interactions with the Company associated with the Contact in the e-mail

  • Any Tasks, Upcoming Meetings, or Opportunities for the Company associated with the Contact you're looking at.

  • Picture (if available), Name and Function, and Location of your Contact.

  • Icons to quickly create a Task or Note for a Contact.

  • Button to create an Opportunity directly from your inbox (opens up Nexl on your browser)

  • Create Stay-In-Touch reminders for a Contact.

At the bottom of the window, there is a section where you have the typical Nexl options to better manage and understand the Contact. From there you can:

  • View and update Contact details

  • See Who Knows this Contact at your firm

  • View a Contact's Activity Feed, detailing their most recent interactions (emails, meetings) with people at your firm

  • Notes attached to a Contact
