Why Did My Battery Run Out Before Morning?

Reasons your battery might be dying, and how to make it last longer

In most cases, battery life falls within our expected range ( 8–9 hours), but certain usage patterns can shorten that window. Below are the most common reasons this happens, and what you can do to extend battery life.

Common Reasons Battery May Run Out Early

1. Starting the Night with a Partial Charge

If your Smartbuds weren’t fully charged before bed, they may not make it through a longer sleep session.

Tip:

  • Aim to start each night at 100% battery.

  • If you use your Smartbuds during the day (e.g., meditation or focus sessions), top them off before bedtime.

2. Extended Audio Playback

Streaming audio for long periods increases battery usage.

Tip:

  • Consider enabling “Pause Audio Once Asleep” (if available in your settings).

  • Lower the playback volume slightly — higher volume draws more power.

3. Long Sleep Sessions

If you regularly sleep 9+ hours, the battery may simply be reaching its natural limit.

Smartbuds are designed to support a typical full night of sleep. Very long sessions can exceed that window.

4. Pre-Sleep Listening Habits

Using Smartbuds for extended wind-down time before actually falling asleep adds to total runtime. Streaming live audio is particularly power demanding.

Example:
If you listen to a podcast for 90 minutes before falling asleep and then sleep 8 hours, that’s 9.5 hours of intense use.

Tip:

  • Reduce wind-down time with the earbuds in the ears and active.

5. Using Only One Bud (While the Other Is Out of the Case)

It’s completely fine to use just one Smartbud. All core features — including sleep tracking and slow-wave boost — will still function. However, if the second bud is in the case, the two buds will continuously try to reconnect to each other. That reconnection activity increases power consumption and can noticeably drain the battery of the bud you’re using.

How to prevent extra drain:

  • If using only one bud, place the other bud nearby on the nightstand, out of the case.

This ensures the active bud isn’t expending energy trying to reconnect — and helps maximize overnight battery life.
