Reporting Data Warehouse Integration

Integration to let you use reporting tools like PowerBI with NextStage data

Written by Josh Chua
Updated over a month ago

NextStage provides a secure data warehouse integration that allows you to connect your pipeline and opportunity data to external business intelligence (BI) tools. This enables advanced reporting, custom dashboards, and deeper analytics beyond the built-in NextStage reports.

This integration uses Google BigQuery to securely provide read-only access to your organization’s NextStage data.

Overview

By connecting your NextStage BigQuery dataset to visualization tools such as Power BI, Looker, or Tableau, you can create custom reports tailored to your organization’s reporting needs.

This allows teams to analyze pipeline data, forecast revenue, and build executive dashboards using their preferred BI platform.

What You'll Achieve

Secure data access

Establish a secure, customer-specific, read-only connection to your NextStage data in BigQuery.

Custom reports and dashboards

Build tailored dashboards and reports using tools like:

  • Power BI

  • Looker

  • Tableau

  • Other BigQuery-compatible BI tools

Seamless integration

Connect your BI tools directly to your NextStage dataset with minimal setup and no impact to your production environment.

Who Is This For?

Data Analysts

Create advanced dashboards, visualizations, and pipeline analytics using external reporting tools.

System Administrators

Manage secure access to reporting data while maintaining compliance with organizational data governance policies.

Leadership and Revenue Teams

Access executive-level dashboards and customized reporting aligned with internal forecasting and pipeline review processes.

How It Works

NextStage securely publishes your organization’s reporting data to a dedicated BigQuery dataset.

This dataset:

  • Is customer-specific

  • Is read-only

  • Updates automatically as your NextStage data changes

  • Supports standard BI integrations

Your BI tool connects directly to this dataset to power custom dashboards and reports.

Step 1: Set Up a Google Identity

Before connecting to BigQuery, ensure you have the following:

  • A Google Workspace identity or Google account

  • Access approval from your organization’s administrator

  • The BigQuery reporting integration enabled by NextStage

If this feature is not yet enabled, contact NextStage support to request activation.

Step 2: Access Your BigQuery Dataset

Once enabled, NextStage will provide access to your organization’s BigQuery dataset.

This dataset contains reporting-ready tables that reflect your:

  • Opportunities

  • Pipelines

  • Stages

  • Revenue data

  • Custom fields

This data is read-only and optimized for reporting.

Step 3: Connect BigQuery to Your BI Tool

Example: Connecting with Power BI

  1. Open Power BI Desktop

  2. Click Get Data

  3. Select Google BigQuery

  4. Sign in using your Google identity or service account credentials

  5. Select your NextStage dataset

  6. Click Load to import the data

Your NextStage data is now available for reporting within Power BI.

Step 4: Build Custom Reports

Once connected, you can use your BI tool to:

  • Create dashboards and visualizations

  • Analyze pipeline trends

  • Track win rates and stage progression

  • Build executive reporting views

  • Report on custom fields and organizational metrics

Reports can be saved and securely shared within your organization.

Best Practices

Follow these best practices when using the reporting integration:

  • Follow your organization’s data governance policies

  • Share reports only with authorized users

  • Avoid modifying source data structures

  • Use read-only access as intended

This ensures data integrity and security across your reporting environment.
