Accessing the Market Research Tool

From the left navigation menu, click Market Research, then select Search.

This will open the Market Research workspace where you can search for opportunities, awards, contract vehicles, and vendors.

Selecting a Data Source

Use the source dropdown next to the search bar to select where you want to search. Available sources may include:

  • SAM.gov – Active and historical federal opportunities

  • GovWin – Pre-RFP, forecast, and early intelligence opportunities

  • Task Orders – Opportunities from integrated portals such as eBuy or email ingestion

  • Contract Vehicles – Historical data on GWACs, IDIQs, and schedules

  • Awards – Historical contract award data

  • Vendors – Vendor profiles, history, and contract activity

Your selected source determines the type of results and filters available.

Searching for Opportunities

Enter keywords, NAICS codes, agency names, or locations in the search bar.

By default, NextStage displays only open opportunities. To include historical opportunities, remove or adjust the Status filter.

Results will automatically populate based on your search criteria.

Filtering Results

Use filters to refine your search and narrow results to the most relevant opportunities. Available filters may include:

  • Agency

  • NAICS

  • Place of Performance

  • Set-Aside Type

  • Response Date

  • Posted Date

  • Contract Vehicle

  • Award Type

Filters update results automatically as they are applied.

Viewing Opportunity Details

Click on any opportunity to view detailed information in the right-side panel. This includes:

  • Description

  • Agency

  • Response Date

  • Solicitation Number

  • Set-Aside Status

  • NAICS Code

  • Source Link

  • Additional metadata and history

This allows you to evaluate the opportunity before saving or adding it to your pipeline.

Adding an Opportunity to Your Pipeline

If an opportunity is relevant, click Add to Pipeline.

This creates a pipeline opportunity record associated with the source opportunity so your team can track and manage it through capture and proposal development.

Saving a Search

If you frequently run the same search, click Save Search.

Saved searches store your keywords, filters, and source selection so you can quickly return to the same results later.

Saved searches also allow NextStage to notify you when new matching opportunities are identified.

Accessing Saved Searches

To access saved searches, click Saved Searches in the left navigation menu.

You can reopen any saved search to view updated results using your saved criteria.

Searching Historical Awards

To search historical contract awards, select Awards from the source dropdown.

Award search allows you to:

  • Identify incumbents

  • Analyze contract values

  • Identify contract vehicles

  • Find potential teaming partners

  • Understand agency buying patterns

Award data is sourced from FPDS and USAspending and enhanced within NextStage.

Searching Contract Vehicles

Select Contract Vehicles from the source dropdown to view GWACs, IDIQs, and other contract vehicles.

Contract vehicle profiles include:

  • Total contract value

  • Task order volume

  • Prime contractors

  • Historical activity

  • Contract analysis

This helps identify re-compete opportunities and teaming strategies.

Searching Vendor Profiles

Select Vendors from the source dropdown to search vendor profiles.

Vendor profiles include:

  • Vendor details and registration information

  • Historical awards and obligations

  • Agency relationships

  • Contract vehicles

  • Recent activity

This helps identify competitors, incumbents, and potential partners.

Searching GovWin Opportunities (Optional Integration)

If your organization has enabled the GovWin integration, you can select GovWin from the source dropdown.

GovWin provides access to:

  • Pre-RFP opportunities

  • Forecast opportunities

  • Early market intelligence

This allows teams to identify opportunities earlier in the acquisition lifecycle.

Task Orders (Optional Integration)

If your organization has task order integrations enabled, you can search task orders from sources such as:

  • eBuy

  • Email ingestion

  • Integrated contract vehicle portals

This allows you to manage task order opportunities alongside traditional solicitations.

Summary

The Market Research tool allows you to:

  • Search federal opportunities

  • Filter and refine results

  • View opportunity details

  • Add opportunities to your pipeline

  • Save and reuse searches

  • Research awards, contract vehicles, and vendors

  • Identify incumbents and teaming opportunities

This enables capture teams to perform comprehensive market intelligence and identify new opportunities efficiently.
