Accessing the Market Research Tool
From the left navigation menu, click Market Research, then select Search.
This will open the Market Research workspace where you can search for opportunities, awards, contract vehicles, and vendors.
Selecting a Data Source
Use the source dropdown next to the search bar to select where you want to search. Available sources may include:
SAM.gov – Active and historical federal opportunities
GovWin – Pre-RFP, forecast, and early intelligence opportunities
Task Orders – Opportunities from integrated portals such as eBuy or email ingestion
Contract Vehicles – Historical data on GWACs, IDIQs, and schedules
Awards – Historical contract award data
Vendors – Vendor profiles, history, and contract activity
Your selected source determines the type of results and filters available.
Searching for Opportunities
Enter keywords, NAICS codes, agency names, or locations in the search bar.
By default, NextStage displays only open opportunities. To include historical opportunities, remove or adjust the Status filter.
Results will automatically populate based on your search criteria.
Filtering Results
Use filters to refine your search and narrow results to the most relevant opportunities. Available filters may include:
Agency
NAICS
Place of Performance
Set-Aside Type
Response Date
Posted Date
Contract Vehicle
Award Type
Filters update results automatically as they are applied.
Viewing Opportunity Details
Click on any opportunity to view detailed information in the right-side panel. This includes:
Description
Agency
Response Date
Solicitation Number
Set-Aside Status
NAICS Code
Source Link
Additional metadata and history
This allows you to evaluate the opportunity before saving or adding it to your pipeline.
Adding an Opportunity to Your Pipeline
If an opportunity is relevant, click Add to Pipeline.
This creates a pipeline opportunity record associated with the source opportunity so your team can track and manage it through capture and proposal development.
Saving a Search
If you frequently run the same search, click Save Search.
Saved searches store your keywords, filters, and source selection so you can quickly return to the same results later.
Saved searches also allow NextStage to notify you when new matching opportunities are identified.
Accessing Saved Searches
To access saved searches, click Saved Searches in the left navigation menu.
You can reopen any saved search to view updated results using your saved criteria.
Searching Historical Awards
To search historical contract awards, select Awards from the source dropdown.
Award search allows you to:
Identify incumbents
Analyze contract values
Identify contract vehicles
Find potential teaming partners
Understand agency buying patterns
Award data is sourced from FPDS and USAspending and enhanced within NextStage.
Searching Contract Vehicles
Select Contract Vehicles from the source dropdown to view GWACs, IDIQs, and other contract vehicles.
Contract vehicle profiles include:
Total contract value
Task order volume
Prime contractors
Historical activity
Contract analysis
This helps identify re-compete opportunities and teaming strategies.
Searching Vendor Profiles
Select Vendors from the source dropdown to search vendor profiles.
Vendor profiles include:
Vendor details and registration information
Historical awards and obligations
Agency relationships
Contract vehicles
Recent activity
This helps identify competitors, incumbents, and potential partners.
Searching GovWin Opportunities (Optional Integration)
If your organization has enabled the GovWin integration, you can select GovWin from the source dropdown.
GovWin provides access to:
Pre-RFP opportunities
Forecast opportunities
Early market intelligence
This allows teams to identify opportunities earlier in the acquisition lifecycle.
Task Orders (Optional Integration)
If your organization has task order integrations enabled, you can search task orders from sources such as:
eBuy
Email ingestion
Integrated contract vehicle portals
This allows you to manage task order opportunities alongside traditional solicitations.
