Adding Your Capture Teams to Your Opportunities

This article will walk you through the process of adding your capture team to an opportunity.

The Team tab allows you to assign internal capture team members to an Opportunity. This ensures clear ownership, accountability, and coordination across capture and proposal efforts.

You can assign key roles such as:

  • Proposal Manager

  • Capture Manager

  • Opportunity Owner

  • Additional team members as needed

Assigning capture team members helps ensure the Opportunity is properly staffed and tracked throughout the capture and proposal lifecycle.


Step 1: Locate the Opportunity in Your Pipeline

First, navigate to your Pipeline and locate the Opportunity you want to assign your capture team to.

You can browse Opportunities by stage or use the search bar to quickly locate a specific Opportunity.


Step 2: Open the Opportunity Record

Click on the Opportunity card to open the Opportunity record.

In the example below, we are opening the Opportunity titled Implementation of Advanced Government Simulation Capabilities.

This will take you to the Opportunity workspace.


Step 3: Navigate to the Team Tab

Once inside the Opportunity, click on the Team tab at the top of the screen.

The Team tab allows you to assign both internal capture team members and manage teaming organizations.


Step 4: Assign Capture Team Members

Within the Capture Teams section, you will see available roles such as:

  • Proposal Manager

  • Capture Manager

  • Owner

Click the Find a user dropdown next to the role you want to assign

If the user already exists in NextStage, you can select their name directly from the dropdown list.

Once selected, the user will be assigned to that role for the Opportunity.


Step 5: Add a New User (If Needed)

If the team member does not already exist in NextStage, you can create them directly from this field.

To add a new user:

  1. Click the Find a user dropdown

  2. Begin typing the person’s name

  3. Select Create new user: [Name]

The new user will be created and assigned to the selected role.

Assigning capture team members provides:

  • Clear ownership and accountability

  • Improved collaboration across capture and proposal teams

  • Better visibility into Opportunity staffing

  • Accurate reporting and pipeline tracking

Capture team assignments also support downstream workflows such as proposal development, task assignment, and leadership reporting.
