Step 1: Choose a location
Abdomen: Avoid the waistband, abdominal wrinkles, scars, belt-wearing area, and stretch marks. Make sure the sensor site is at least 5cm away from your navel.
Upper arm: A fatty part of the back of the upper arm (Don't place on the muscles on the outer side of the upper arm)
Step 2: Prepare the area
Body hair can stop the sensor sticking to you properly, so make sure that the area is clean shaven. Before application, clean and sterilize the site with an alcohol wipe or hand sanitizer and let it dry completely.
Step 3: Open the cover on the applicator by unscrewing it
Step 4: Place the applicator on the selected location on your skin
Press it firmly on the skin, but not too hard, just enough for the applicator to cover the area. Press the launch button on the applicator until you hear a spring go off. Hold for five seconds with applicator pressed on your skin to make sure the sensor sticks properly.
There is a needle in the applicator, which will not stay in your arm. This will automatically retract and hide in the applicator when the sensor is launched.
Step 5: Gently pull the applicator away from the skin
The sensor is now applied properly. Close up the applicator with the cap and dispose of it.
Step 6: Connect the sensor with the Nico app
To connect the sensor to the app, follow the instructions here.
đĄTip
To help your sensor stay securely in place:
Apply it after a shower when your skin is clean and dry.
Avoid applying lotions, oils, or deodorant near the area.
After application, press gently around the edges for a few seconds to make sure the adhesive sticks well.
If youâre very active or sweat often, consider using a patch or sports tape for extra support.
â ď¸Common Mistakes to Avoid:
Applying to damp skin: Moisture can weaken the adhesive and cause the sensor to detach early.
Choosing a bony or muscular area: These spots may be uncomfortable and can affect sensor accuracy.
Not letting the alcohol wipe dry fully: This can trap moisture under the adhesive and lead to poor adhesion or skin irritation.
Pressing the applicator too hard: A firm, gentle press is enough. Too much pressure can cause bruising or discomfort.
Forgetting to pair the sensor right away: Always connect it to the Nico app after applying so your data starts recording correctly.
