Overview

We recommend renaming and repurposing existing statuses, instead of deleting them, for a few reasons:

  • When you create an entirely new status, you will have to tag that new status on relevant existing job postings, a time-consuming process which could be avoided by repurposing an old status

  • If done improperly, deleting a currently used status can move candidates in bulk to a different, unintended status, likely causing confusion

  • Deleting a status cannot be undone

If you would like to rename and repurpose a status rather than deleting it, please refer to “Best practices for adjusting statuses after configuration.”

Check for candidates

If you do want to delete a status, first check if there are candidates currently in that status.

To do so, navigate to the “candidates” page and select the status you are interested in. In addition, be sure to press “Select All” under the Job Status section to ensure you will see candidates for jobs that have been archived.

Take note of whether or not the status contains candidates, and then follow the corresponding steps below.

Deleting a status with no candidates

If you complete the steps above and find there are no candidates in the status, it can be safely deleted.

To do so, navigate to “Settings” and click the delete button ("x") next to the empty status you intend to delete.

Press “Delete anyway” on the modal that appears to confirm status deletion.

Deleting a status that currently has candidates

If you intend to delete a status that currently contains candidates, please read below before you do so. If done correctly, Super Admin can safely delete statuses that contain candidates. However, if you have any questions, please contact us at support@hirenimble.com; we are happy to delete the status on your behalf.

When you delete a status which contains candidates, all candidates in the deleted status will be moved to the immediately prior status. Super Admin can utilize this functionality to safely delete a status and move candidates. To continue with this type of status deletion, follow the steps below.

Situate the status you intend to delete immediately after the status you would like candidates to be moved to. In our example above, we will be deleting the “On-site Confirmed” status, and wish for the candidates in this status to be moved to “On-site Scheduled”

When you are certain you have the two statuses situated correctly, press the red “x” on the status you wish to delete.

Press “Delete anyway” on the warning message that appears.

If done correctly, the status will be deleted and the candidates previously in that status will now be in the prior status.

Although we don’t recommend deleting statuses that contain candidates, it can in some instances be necessary. By following the steps above, you will be able to safely delete a status without any negative consequences. If you have any doubts as you complete the process, please feel free to reach out to support@hirenimble.com.
