How to Get Better Scorecard KPIs with Maz in Ninety

Scorecards change over time: too many numbers, lagging financial results, KPIs no one is actively scoring, and targets set once and never revisited. The Maz Scorecard Optimizer is a guided conversation that evaluates your current KPIs through a best-practice lens and surfaces specific recommendations to add, remove, or replace them to improve your Scorecard's predictive power.

You stay in control throughout: Maz suggests, you approve. Nothing changes on your Scorecard until you click Apply.

What is the Maz Scorecard Optimizer?

The Maz Scorecard Optimizer is an AI-guided feature built into the Scorecard page that helps you evaluate whether your current KPIs are truly predictive, clearly owned, and aligned with the outcomes your business is working toward. Maz pulls your weekly Scorecard data and 13-week score history, reviews it against proven best practices, and builds a prioritized set of recommendations organized by theme that you can step through at your own pace.

Who can use this feature

The Maz Scorecard Optimizer is available to the following roles on the Thrive plan:

  • Owners.

  • Admins.

  • Managers.

  • Coaches.

Team Members and Observers do not have access to this feature.

Note: The Maz Scorecard Optimizer is available on the web app only.

How to launch the Scorecard Optimizer

The Scorecard Optimizer is accessed directly from the Scorecard page.

  1. Click Data from the left navigation.

  2. Click ✨ Optimize Scorecard in the toolbar.

  3. The Maz sidebar opens, and the guided conversation begins.

Optimizing your Scorecard

After answering some initial questions, Maz will begin analyzing the Weekly Scorecard for the team you're currently viewing in the Data tool. Most often, Maz will offer to relay its suggestions one at a time or grouped by theme. Make your selection to continue the process.

How Maz evaluates your Scorecard

Maz reviews your KPIs against proven best practices, looking at:

  • Leading vs. lagging indicators: Whether your KPIs predict future performance or only confirm what already happened.

  • Ownership and accountability: Whether each KPI is clearly assigned to someone who can move it.

  • Alignment with business goals: Whether KPIs connect to the outcomes in your Vision, including your 1-Year Goals.

  • Scorecard hygiene: Duplicates, dormant KPIs with no scores entered, and clutter that reduces focus during your Weekly Team Meeting.

  • Data-informed targets: Maz examines your recent score history and may suggest adjustments to target values based on actual performance trends rather than the targets' original settings.
