As a customer of Nobex On Demand, you have the ability to upload and distribute your audio content to your listeners through RSS. While this can be a convenient and cost-effective way to reach your audience, bandwidth costs can quickly add up, especially if you have many listeners streaming the audio from your mobile app. In this article, we will explore some tips on how to save money with bandwidth when uploading files to Nobex On Demand that are audio and being played in a mobile player by many listeners.

  1. Optimize your audio files

Optimizing your audio files can significantly reduce their size and, in turn, lower your bandwidth costs. When optimizing your audio files, consider the bitrate and format of the file. Lower bitrates and more efficient formats, such as AAC or MP3, can significantly reduce the file size while maintaining the quality of the audio.

For MP3 files, we recommend a bitrate of 128 kbps or lower for spoken word content, such as podcasts or audiobooks. For music content, a bitrate of 192 kbps or lower can be used without compromising the quality of the audio. However, it is important to note that the bitrate should always be balanced with the quality of the audio, as excessively low bitrates can result in poor audio quality.

There are several tools available that can help you compress your audio files, such as Audacity, Adobe Audition, and FFMpeg. You can use these tools to adjust the settings of your audio files and reduce their size before uploading them to Nobex On Demand

  2. Consider the length and frequency of your episodes
The length and frequency of your episodes can also impact your bandwidth costs. Longer episodes or more frequent releases can result in more data being transferred to your listeners, which can increase your bandwidth costs.

Consider reducing the length of your episodes or releasing them less frequently to lower your bandwidth costs. This can also have the added benefit of improving the quality of your episodes, as you can focus on producing higher-quality content rather than producing content more frequently.

Optimizing your audio files and considering the length and frequency of your episodes can help you save money with bandwidth when uploading files to Nobex On Demand that are audio and being played in a mobile player by many listeners. By implementing these tips, you can reduce your bandwidth costs while still providing high-quality audio content to your listeners.
