Emotion Cards are one of the most effective visual tools to help children recognize and deal with big feelings and emotions. Here's how you can use them with kiddos:

Recognize and label emotions: Give names to those big feelings.
🌟 Understand feelings: Explore how emotions affect them.
💡 Take positive actions: Learn effective ways to respond to emotions.

Step 1: Choose your Focus

🎯 Identify the goal or emotions you’d like to explore.

  • Search for specific emotions: Enter a set of emotions in the search bar to tailor your cards.

  • Use search samples: Select from our recommendations for a quick and easy start.

  • Start with a Social-Emotional Learning Goal: Focus on SEL-based cards to develop skills like Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, or Responsible Decision-Making.

Step 2: Customize your Cards

🎨 Choose between Emotion-Based Cards or SEL-Based Cards to suit your learning goals!

👉 Option A: Emotion-Based Cards

Perfect for building emotional awareness and understanding.

1️⃣ Pick a Card Style:

  • Standalone Emotions: Great for recognizing and labeling emotions.

  • Emotion-Action Pairs: Ideal for teaching positive actions and managing reactions.

2️⃣ Customize Further:

  • Set reading level: Match the text to your child’s reading ability for clear understanding.

  • Select the # of cards: Decide how many emotions or actions you’d like to feature.

  • Add a child profile: Use an existing profile or create one from scratch.

  • Include extra details: Add context and relevant information to make the cards relatable to your child.

👉 Option B: SEL-Based Cards

Perfect for fostering Social-Emotional Learning skills.

1️⃣ Pick an SEL Environment:

  • Choose the context where SEL skills will be applied—in classrooms, in schools, with families & caregivers, or within communities. This sets the stage for targeted skill-building.

2️⃣ Follow the Customization Steps Above:

Adjust the reading level, select the number of cards, add a profile, and personalize the details to fit the chosen environment.

⚡ Our SEL cards are designed using the CASEL Framework, incorporating evidence-based strategies to effectively build essential social and emotional learning skills.

Step 3: Edit & Review your Cards

✏️ Add your personal touch!

  • Edit captions: Click the pencil icon to fine-tune the text on the cards if you'd like.

  • Save changes: Use the checkmark button when you're happy with your edits.

Pro Tip: Double-check your edits before pressing “Next,” as captions can’t be changed afterwards!

Your cards will take a few minutes to generate, so feel free to browse other tabs while our AI works its magic. Once they’re ready, click "Expand Cards" to view and flip through them as you work with your child.
