New Understanding with Insights

Insights is here to help you better understand your habits, usage patterns, and productivity behaviors. Currently, Insights shows your week-in-review, offering detailed data on your performance, highlighting key accomplishments, and delivering personalized recommendations to help you improve your productivity in a way that works best for you.

How do I access Insights?

Insights are currently available using the "brain" icon found in the top right corner of your horizon page on both mobile and web.

Newton's 4th Law: For every Insight there is a Recommended Action

Insights are the first set of summary cards that you will see each week that provide data visualizations accompanied with high level summaries of your week in review. Recommendations are the second set of summary cards you'll view that dive a bit deeper into the Insight and target a specific recommended action for you to aim for the next week.

Horizon Completion Rate

Your Horizon Completion Rate measures how many Tasks you’ve completed out of those that were added to your Horizon throughout the entire week. The Horizon is a place of daily focus. By looking at your completion rate for the week, you get an overall idea of how well you're addressing your priorities. Example:

Horizon Completion Rate by Day Breakdown

Horizon Completion by Day shows you which days you completed all of your Horizon Tasks and which days you didn’t. This insight helps you identify patterns in your productivity, such as days when you may have been especially busy or when your Horizon might have been overloaded. Ideally you find that sweet spot where you are adding the right amount of Tasks per day to your Horizon that you're able to complete. By reflecting on your daily Horizon completion habits, you can adjust your planning to create a more balanced and achievable schedule. Example:

Task Volume

Task Volume measures how many Tasks you’re creating in the app over time. Consistently adding new Tasks—daily or at least weekly—is crucial for making the most of the tool. If you’re not creating enough Tasks to have a few things to focus on each day, it might indicate that you’re not fully utilizing the app or accurately reflecting your real day-to-day life. Maintaining an appropriate Task volume ensures you’re tracking everything you need, staying engaged, and effectively organizing your daily priorities. Example:

Automation Utilization

Automation Utilization highlights how many Tasks are created automatically through the app’s automation features. This includes Recurring Tasks generated by task factories—like one-off reminders to go to the dentist or daily habits like going to the gym—and Routines, which group multiple related tasks together. Routines can be set to run daily, like a morning or nightly routine, or triggered as needed, such as preparing for a trip. By utilizing automation, you help to free your mind from remembering the repetitive things. While not everything can be automated, this insight serves as a barometer of how effectively you’re leveraging the tool’s most powerful features to streamline your schedule and optimize your day. Example:

Completed Task Volume

The Completed Task Volume insight highlights the balance between the number of Tasks you create and the number you complete each week. Ideally, you should be creating and completing Tasks at a similar rate to maintain a healthy and productive workflow. If you’re creating significantly more Tasks than you’re completing, it might indicate an unproductive habit of hoarding tasks, which can feel overwhelming. On the other hand, if you’re completing more Tasks than you’re creating, it could mean you’re not capturing enough Tasks to fully reflect your day-to-day life. This insight helps you find the right balance, ensuring your Task list stays meaningful, actionable, and aligned with your true priorities. Example:

Task Completion Day Breakdown

The Completed Task Volume by Day insight tracks the total number of Tasks you complete each day, whether from your Horizon or Task list. This helps you identify which days are your most productive and provides a view of how balanced your task completion is across the week. Ideally, you’re completing a consistent number of Tasks each day, which suggests your days are well-tuned and manageable. However, life is unpredictable, and some variation is natural. This insight helps you reflect on your daily balance and adjust your planning to achieve a more consistent and sustainable level of productivity. Example:

Horizon Usage Rate

The Horizon Usage insight measures how many of your completed Tasks were first moved into the Horizon view. The Horizon is designed to be your clean, focused space, helping you to prioritize Tasks and achieve clarity. Ideally, most or all of your completed Tasks should come from the Horizon, signaling that you’re using it effectively to guide your day. Example:

Insights are a Guide

In summary, Insights give you a quick snapshot of your progress and habits, helping you see what’s working and what might need a tweak. Check in every week to gauge how you’re doing, celebrate your wins, and adjust as needed. It’s a simple way to stay on track and keep improving!
