Change Personal Language Preference

1. Navigate to Settings > Profile
2. Scroll to Language Preferences section
3. Click the language dropdown menu
4. Select your preferred language:
- French (Français)
- Dutch (Nederlands)
- English (English)
5. Click "Save" button
6. Interface immediately updates to selected language without page reload
7. All modules, buttons, labels, and menus now display in your chosen language
8. This preference is personal - does not affect colleagues' language settings

Change Workspace Default Language (Admin Only)

1. Navigate to Settings > Organization
2. Scroll to Default Language section
3. Select workspace default from dropdown:
- French (fr)
- Dutch (nl)
- English (en)
4. Click "Save Changes"
5. This sets the default for new users joining the workspace
6. Existing users keep their personal language preferences

Practical example

French-speaking notary Charlotte Dumont works in a Brussels office serving both French and Flemish clients. She changes her Nora.Legal interface language to French in Settings > Profile, immediately seeing all buttons like "Télécharger", "Anonymiser", "Traduire" in French without needing to reload the page. Her colleague Jan Janssens, who is Flemish, keeps his interface in Dutch with buttons like "Uploaden", "Anonimiseren", "Vertalen". Both work comfortably in their preferred language while collaborating on the same workspace and documents.

Notes and limitations

Personal setting: Language preference is per-user - changing yours does not affect colleagues
Workspace default: Admin can set default language for new users, but existing users retain their preferences
Document content unaffected: Only interface language changes - your document content remains in its original language
Three languages only: Currently supports French, Dutch, and English (no German, Spanish, etc.)
Translation module separate: This setting controls interface language, not document translation (use Translation module for that)

FAQ

Q: Does changing my interface language affect my colleagues' view of Nora.Legal?

A: No, language preference is personal to each user account. You can use French interface while your colleague uses Dutch, and you both see the same workspace, documents, and features - just with different button labels and menus. This is ideal for multilingual Belgian offices.

Q: Can I switch languages for specific documents or must I change the entire interface?

A: The language setting controls the entire interface (buttons, menus, labels). It does not affect document content language. If you need to translate a document from French to Dutch, keep your interface in your preferred language and use the Translation module to convert document content between languages.

Q: Are all features fully translated into all three languages?

A: Yes, Nora.Legal provides complete translation for French, Dutch, and English across all modules. All buttons, labels, error messages, notifications, and help text are professionally translated. There are no partially-translated sections or English fallbacks in the supported languages.
