With the right care, your Nordweg can last for many years. As with any long-lasting product, occasional maintenance is key to keeping it in excellent condition.

Burning Loose Threads

This is one of the most important maintenance steps you can take. Over time, a few stitches may loosen — and if not addressed quickly, the seam can continue to unravel and compromise the structure of your product.

This quick fix involves two simple steps:

  • Burn the loose thread: Using a lighter, carefully burn the loose end of the thread down to its base. Be cautious not to touch the leather or surrounding material.

  • Seal the stitch: Immediately after burning, gently press the end of the thread with your fingertip to seal it in place and stop it from reopening.

Repairing Scratches and Wear

The leather used in Nordweg products is highly durable and has been refined over the years to resist daily wear and weathering. However, some surface wear — especially on corners that experience friction with floors, chairs, or other objects — can still occur over time.

To minimize this:

  • Use a leather repair product designed to restore worn or scratched areas.

  • Choose a product with waxes or conditioning agents that match the tone of your leather, when possible.

These treatments can significantly improve the appearance of small imperfections.

Keeping Leather Soft and Hydrated

For ongoing care, we recommend using a leather cleaning and conditioning cream that:

  • Gently removes dust and surface dirt

  • Moisturizes the leather, preserving its softness and natural shine

  • Helps prevent drying or cracking over time

Important: Always read and follow the product instructions before applying any leather care treatment.

With regular care, your Nordweg will maintain its beauty, comfort, and character for years to come.
