Channels (PTT) is a NowForce add-on feature that allows users to communicate via voice chat (Push-to-Talk radio style) with other groups in the organization.
The system provisions a PTT channel for each group in the organization allowing group members to voice chat (and text) with each other on that channel. Users (dispatchers and mobile users can also create their own group channels and start chatting with other users.
The feature is relevant only for Responder/Supervisor and Dispatcher profiles.
The PTT feature is an add-on feature, please contact us if you want to add it to your organization.
The 'Channels' Panel:
Dispatcher user has access to the channels of all groups under the jurisdiction of his control center (meaning all groups his control center can view), and also to the channels of all groups he is a member of, he can also create new chats bases on these contorl centers and groups.
In order to open the Channels panel, click on the 'Open Panels' icon and check the 'Channels' panel:
Note: If you don't see the Channels icon on the list, your organization most probably hasn't activated this feature. Please contact NowForce Customer Support to add this feature.
The Channels panel will open on a separate panel with a list of all channels Dispatcher has access to:
Important note: If the channels panel is not open, you will not hear or receive any notification of a new incoming voice communication.
When clicking on one of the groups, all the information about the channel will be displayed and the Dispatcher will be able to communicate a message (voice or text) to that channel:
Once you chose a group's channel you can click on the 'Less' or 'More' icons to close or open the information window:
When the information panel is open, click on the 'Conversion' icon to see a log of all previous voice and text messages, you can replay the voice messages by clicking on the 'Play' icon:
If you click on the 'Members' icon you will see all the members of the group's channel:
Note: A group member will appear in the channel list only after logging-in for the first time to the app.
Transmitting a Message:
To transmit a voice message on one of the channels, click on the 'Microphone' icon on the blue ribbon at the bottom of the window.
Note: When you are transmitting a message, the 'Microphone' icon will turn green, and the name of channel you are transmitting to will be displayed on the blue ribbon:
Once you begin transmitting your message, all the members of the channel, who are currently logged in, will automatically hear it.
After you finished transmitting, the voice message will be added to the conversations window and can be played-back:
New Voice Message:
When another member of the channel is transmitting a message, you will automatically hear it, a red strip with the information regarding the message (who is transmitting and on which channel) will appear at the bottom of the Channels panel.
You can click on the 'Pause' icon if you don't want to hear this specific message at that moment, and re-play it later on:
Remember: You will only hear the communications if the Channels panel is open (it doesn't need to be on top of your PC desktop but it must be open).
How to Mute Channels:
You can chose to mute all channels by clicking the 'Red Circle' icon on the blue ribbon, or mute selected channels by clicking the 'Speaker' icon on the blue ribbon or the 'Speaker' icon next to the selected group on the groups list:

To send a text message, write the message at the text box and click on the arrow next to it:
