Many Numa customers replace their expensive answering service with Numa. Just like most traditional answering services Numa will answer the phone when the business is closed, record a message, and notify the business. Below are instructions on how to set up Numa to replace your answering service.

Option 1: Call forward to Numa instead of your answering service

Most answering services utilize call forwarding to forward business calls to an answering service telephone number when the business is closed our no one can answer the phone. Simply configure the phones to forward calls to Numa instead. Numa will record voicemails, start text conversations, and notify your business when there is a new message.

Option 2: Set up conditional call forwarding on you business phone

The benefit of configuring your phones with conditional call forwarding is that Numa will not only answer when your business is closed but Numa can also answer when your phone is busy or you are unable to answer the phone because you are caring for a customer in person. How to Confirm It's Working

You can place a test call by going to Settings > Phone numbers > Test my setup or call your business's phone number from your personal phone. If nobody answers, you should hear your Numa Voicemail greeting.

Troubleshooting

Make sure you don't have an answering machine picking up your calls before they get forwarded.

If your business's phone line is part of a hunt group (multiple lines that ring until one is answered), you may need to set up forwarding on all the lines involved. Alternatively, you could remove your business phone line from the hunt group.

Contact your phone provider and have them double check that forwarding was set up properly and is active on your line.

No matter what, don't hesitate to contact Numa support! We'll happily work with you and your service provider to get you all set up.
