Bank account requirements for tax payments
When you onboard with Numeral, you’ll need to provide details for an ACH-enabled bank account (routing number and account number). Note that some banks have multiple routing numbers, so make sure to provide the one for ACH debits.
During the filing process, state tax agencies will withdraw the amounts you owe from this account.
Please ensure that this account:
Has sufficient funds available to cover tax payments.
Does not have any ACH debit blocks or restrictions in place.
Most failed payments occur when these conditions aren’t met. If you notice a blocked or failed payment, please contact Numeral as soon as possible, so we can assist with reprocessing the payment.
Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that your business’s bank account is fully funded and capable of processing ACH withdrawals. Numeral is not responsible for failed payments due to a lack of funds or your bank’s denial of a withdrawal.
Late or unsuccessful payments may result in penalties and interest charges from the state. You will be responsible for paying these amounts.
Payment plans with states
Some states offer payment plans to businesses with outstanding tax liabilities, including unpaid taxes, penalties, and interest charges that have accumulated over time. These plans typically require businesses to make regular monthly payments. Missing or delaying a payment can result in the business defaulting on the plan, which may lead to further collection actions by the state.
Numeral does not negotiate or arrange payment plans with states on behalf of our clients, nor do we process payments for existing payment plans.
Our role is to ensure that your current tax filings are submitted and paid on time. We are also happy to assist with preparing and submitting any outstanding or overdue filings you may have with state tax agencies.
