Does your business have a new employer identification number (EIN), and is it a current Numeral client? Great!

You’ll need to make some updates to your Numeral account.

Here are your first steps:

  1. Log in to your Numeral dashboard.

  2. Click on the name of your business (in the top left-hand corner).

  3. Click on “+ Add Client.”

  4. Start onboarding your new business.

  5. Email us at help@numeralhq.com with:

    1. The date when your new EIN will go into effect.

    2. The states you would like to start new registrations in.

Why is this important? A new EIN means that, legally, you have a new business that needs to be registered for sales taxes, unemployment and/or income taxes, and more. So Numeral needs to know your plans for your business, so we can determine when you would like your final filings for your old EIN to be, close your state tax accounts, and open new ones when we switch over to your new EIN.

This also preserves your records between each business entity — your accountant will thank you!

Here’s an overview of your next steps:

State tax account closures:

Once you complete the final filings, your state sales tax accounts will need to be closed. Numeral can take care of this for you; we bill $150 per state tax account closure.

Onboarding your new business:

Our onboarding team will help you with setting up your new accounts and kicking off the registration process.

New state registrations:

We will register your new business in as many states as you like; this can take 30 days or more, depending on the state. Numeral bills $150 per state registration.

If you’re coming to Numeral with existing sales tax accounts and have changed EINs prior to joining the platform, please alert our onboarding team. We’ll want to ensure that the EIN tied to each of the state registrations being transferred to Numeral matches the one you provided during onboarding.

Please note that state-mandated registration fees may also be required.

If you have any questions, send us a message from within your Numeral dashboard. Click on the widget on the bottom right-hand-side of your screen, and select Contact Support > My Company Is Already Filing with Numeral. Our team will be happy to provide answers.
