To understand how tax will be applied for your orders running through Recharge, it’s important to first distinguish where you’re billing your clients for these subscriptions. Are they billed via Recharge or Shopify?
To determine this, you can follow the steps on the Recharge help center here.
If your clients are billed for Recharge orders through Shopify, the tax settings that you’ve set up on Shopify will apply.
However, if your clients are billed through Recharge, the tax settings that you’ve set up within Recharge will apply.
Recharge allows you to collect taxes within the states where your have physical nexus. To do so, follow the steps on the Recharge help center (located in settings > taxes > add physical presence).
To collect tax in states where you have economic nexus, Recharge recommends contacting their support team via the Chat support support option within your Recharge portal.
