Sales tax for Non-US Folks

While we do love working with international customers, your onboarding may look slightly different than onboarding for US based customers

I don't live in the US but sell in the US and need to get this sales tax thing sorted out

First off, welcome, you have come to the right place! Sales tax in the US is complicated and we have a team of sales tax experts that are here to help!

Our team has been given feedback that our onboarding process (inputting data into your company dashboard) is not the most friendly for international folks so we are actively working on improving the onboarding flow.

Cool. What is the minimum that is needed to get started with Numeral?

  1. Identification - States will ask for identification for a responsible party or officer of your company. We kindly ask that if available you upload a passport as we have found that international licenses are not always satisfactory to states.

  2. Employer Identification Number (EIN) - The EIN is a nine-digit number assigned by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Your EIN is used to identify tax accounts associated with your business. Unfortunately we cannot register you in states until you are assigned an EIN. If you do not have a EIN, you can get started here.

  3. Social Security Number (SSN) of Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) - States require companies to have a responsible party and thus ask for a SSN or ITIN during the registration process for a sales tax license. If you do not have a SSN or ITIN, do not worry, we can still register you in states, but some states will require that we send over paper registrations instead of registering you online. The onboarding team will be in touch about specific items that are needed should you need paper registrations

We look forward to working together and thank you for your patience while we bring your feedback to life!
