What is Streamlined Sales Tax (SST)? We’re glad you asked.
SST’s stated goal is to make filing sales and use tax across the U.S. simpler and less time consuming. There are 24 member states that have adopted the rules and technology systems necessary for SST’s automated calculations and filings.
They are: Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
Some of the benefits of using the SST service to file sales and use tax include:
Single tax number ID for all SST statesSeamless registration for sales and use tax accounts in new states
Centralized portal to manage settings for all SST states
Standardized filing procedure across states
Who can file via SST?
A Certified Service Provider (CSP) is an agent certified under the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Agreement to perform all the seller's sales and use tax functions. Currently, Numeral is in the process of obtaining our official CSP status.
Still, Numeral is able to file via SST in most member states. Exceptions include Vermont, Nevada and Georgia. For these states, we file sales and use tax directly on the individual state’s department of revenue (DOR) portal.
If you have any questions regarding your SST filings with Numeral, please let us know. Head over to your Numeral dashboard and send us a message by clicking into the Message icon at the bottom right hand-side of your page.
