This guide walks you through connecting your Floor Vista to Taz Pro, Taz Lite, or Taz SP inside Ableton Live. By the end, your Floor Vista will be synced to your session and ready to control cues live.
Watch the walkthrough video below for a full demo:
Step 1: Load Taz Pro Into Your Set
Drag and drop Taz Pro into your Ableton Live set.
(Note: This also works with Taz Lite and Taz SP.)
Add locators in your Live timeline to represent songs:
* Song One
* Song Two
* Song Three
These locators will appear in the mini cue list of Taz.
Step 2: Power On Floor Vista
Connect Floor Vista via USB to turn on the device. You’ll notice Floor Vista boots up and displays a few instructions once connected. Also note the firmware version in the top left corner immediately after booting up. You can visit this page to update your firmware if needed.
Step 3: Configure Ableton Live's Preferences
Open Preferences → Link/Tempo/MIDI tab.
Under Control Surface, leave it unassigned (None).
Under your MIDI ports, configure Floor Vista’s input settings:
Track: On
Remote: On
Then configure Floor Vista's output settings in Ableton Live:
Sync: On (Mac only — sync does not work on PC)
These settings allow you to:
Send MIDI data from Floor Vista into Ableton Live
Map buttons to controls in Live devices (like Taz)
Enable tempo feedback to Floor Vista (on macOS)
Step 4: Set Track Input to Floor Vista
In your Ableton Live set, select the MIDI track where Taz is loaded.
Set the track’s MIDI From to:
Floor Vista
Once set, you’ll see Floor Vista's display update to mirror your session. Buttons will begin to reflect cue information, and you can begin MIDI-mapping them as needed.
Step 5: Map Buttons and Control the Set
You can now:
Map Floor Vista buttons to song cues in Taz
Page through your set using the navigation buttons
Start/stop cues via the mapped play and stop buttons
Bonus Tip: Reconnect Without Losing Your Place
If your Floor Vista gets disconnected mid-set: Simply plug it back in.
As long as preferences and routing are already set, it will pick up right where you left off. There's no need to reconfigure.
This built-in reliability ensures minimal disruption during your live performance.
That’s it! You’re now ready to perform using Floor Vista and Taz.
