The Appeals Process

How to challenge a verdict you believe was incorrect, and what happens during the appeal

Updated this week

Who can appeal

The Objector who filed the original case or the Author whose article was challenged.

Filing an appeal

To appeal, you must provide the verdict you are challenging, a detailed reason for your appeal, and at least one specific ground for the appeal. Only one appeal can be active per verdict at a time. You cannot file a new appeal while one is already in progress.

Possible Appeal Outcomes

  • Upheld - The original verdict stands. The appeal did not change the outcome.

  • Overturned - The original verdict is reversed. The case outcome changes.

  • Dismissed - The appeal is rejected without a full reversal.
