How can an author stop an investigation?

Your right to offer a rectification and halt proceedings.

Updated over a week ago

Yes. You can stop an investigation by offering a rectification.

A rectification may involve:

  • Retracting the statement or article

  • Correcting the specific claim(s) in dispute

  • Apologizing or the error or misleading framing

The Objector must agree to stop the investigation if they are satisfied with your offer. If they accept, the case is closed. If they reject the offer, proceedings continue.

Offering a rectification is not an admission of guilt or malice. It is often the fastest and most constructive resolution for both parties.
