Before launching your loyalty program, a few configuration steps are essential in your loyalty back-office.
1. Fill in the general settings
In the Establishment tab, set up the foundation of your account :
Your establishment's information (name, address, contact details)
Texts and notices displayed to your customers
The link to your online store
⚠️ This last point is essential: this is the link that will be used in your campaigns and automations. When you select "Online store" in a message, your customer is redirected directly to your ordering site.
Without this link, your customers receive an offer… but cannot order in one click !
2. Set up your image and banner
These are the visuals your customers see on their loyalty space :
The logo : the avatar of your program
The banner : the image displayed at the top of the page
Use good quality images in the correct format — this is the first impression your customers will have of your program.
3. Set up your Wallet Pass
The Wallet Pass is your digital loyalty card, directly in your customers' Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
Customise it with your logo and colours
Check the information displayed (establishment name, points balance…)
A Wallet Pass in your establishment's colours puts your brand right in your customers' pocket.
4. Add your useful links
Allow your customers to access your important pages in one click: website, online booking, social media, Google reviews…
This is an excellent way to drive traffic to your other channels.
5. Choose your points mechanic
This is the heart of your program. Two possible mechanics (cannot be combined) :
Points → Rewards: your customers accumulate points and redeem them for a free product or a discount. E.g.: €1 = 1 point, 50 points = a free coffee.
Points → Cashback: points are automatically converted into euros credited to the customer's pot.
6. Create your rewards 🎁
No rewards, no loyalty! A few best practices :
Choose attractive but profitable rewards (coffee, dessert, drink)
Don't set the threshold too high — an unattainable reward is discouraging
Include the products your customers order most
7. Activate your automations
This is the silent engine of your program: messages sent automatically based on your customers' behaviour, with no action required on your part. Activate at least these 5 rules :
Welcome : a warm message as soon as a customer unlocks their card
Happy birthday : a special offer on the day — the best-performing automation in the restaurant industry
Inactive customer : "We miss you" after 45 days without an order
Reward available : notify your customer that a gift is waiting for them
Poor rating (<4/5) : offer 15% off the next order from €10 of purchase
For each automation, remember to define the reward, its validity period (7 to 14 days recommended) and the channel of use (online, at the till, or both).
And thanks to the online store link configured in step 1, each message can redirect your customer directly to your ordering page.
8. Import your existing contacts (optional) 📋
Do you already have a customer database? You can import it via the Obypay CSV template (email, first name, last name, phone number, date of birth, points, pot).
⚠️ Important GDPR notice : you must have the explicit consent of your contacts to send them marketing communications. If in doubt, first send an opt-in email.
You're all set !
Once these steps are completed, your loyalty account is fully operational : your customers can sign up, accumulate points, receive your automatic messages and enjoy their rewards.
