What is a Template Task?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Octoparse offers ready-to-use scraping templates for popular websites like Amazon, Twitter, Google Maps, and more. These templates let you extract data without building a task from scratch - just input the required parameters, and you're good to go!

Accessing the Template Gallery

You can find template tasks in 3 ways:

  • Click the Templates icon on the homepage or sidebar.

  • Click + New in the sidebar → Choose Template Mode.

  • Search directly on the Home screen.

Paid Templates

Certain templates may require add-on credits beyond your subscription due to:
✅ Complex extraction logic
✅ Advanced anti-scraping bypass techniques

Pricing details are available on each template's detail page:

Types of Template Tasks

Octoparse offers two main template types:

1. OTD (Octoparse Custom Task) Templates

  • Can run on your device or in the cloud.

  • Built using Octoparse’s no-code task builder.

2. JavaScript/Python Templates

  • Designed for complex sites (Amazon, Twitter, Indeed, etc.).

  • Cloud-only execution (cannot run locally).

  • Often have usage limits (e.g., daily extraction caps).

⚠️ Note: Templates cannot be edited by users.
