Zapier is a tool that helps you integrate workflows between different apps — no code necessary. When an event happens in one app, Zapier will be triggered to tell another app to perform a particular action, according to the Zap you create. In this tutorial, you will learn how to connect Octoparse to Google Drive via Zapier, allowing your file to export directly without having to manually download it.
Please note that every line of data delivered with this Zap will cost ONE Zapier task!
Take the fast lane by using this Octoparse X Google Drive template:
To create a new Zap click on "Create Zap" on your Zapier account page:
STEP 1. Setup the Trigger
Choose Octoparse as the trigger app and select New Document Processed as the Trigger Event. We also recommend you rename your Zap at this stage in the left top corner.
Choose or connect your Octoparse account to Zapier.
Select your target Octoparse task by choosing the belonging group in Octoparse or search by Task ID, then select your ideal Task Status (multiple choices are available)
By clicking continue, Zapier will allow you to test your trigger at this stage, 2 scenarios might happen -
if the test result is “We found a task!” with a CSV as a file, please proceed to step 2.
if the test result is “We found a task!” with null as the file, it means the target Octoparse task you have selected has no available cloud data, please go back to Octoparse to run the task in the cloud then test the trigger again when data of the target task are extracted.
STEP 2. Setup the Action
Choose Google Drive as the action app.
2 of the recommended choices for Action Event are:
Upload File - every time Octoparse extracts new data of your target task, a new file will be created (you will get multiple files)
Replace File - the chosen file will be replaced every time Octoparse extracts new data for your target task (you will always have only 1 file)
Select or connect your Google Drive account to Zapier.
Under the Set up action section, after locating the target folder in your Google Drive, 2 things to pay attention to are:
Convert to Document - “Ture” means an editable document would be generated and “False” means an un-editable .cvs file would be generated
File Name - It is recommended at this stage to rename your file under this field, otherwise, the file name will be automatically generated according to Octoparse which can be very long in most cases.
By clicking continue, you will be able to test and review the entire Zap, if the result is to your satisfaction, you are all set to turn on the Zap!
