Investing with Odin is a very simple five step process.

The time it takes for a deal to complete depends on several factors, the main one being how long it takes for everyone to transfer funds.

  1. Create your Odin account using the invite link shared with you from the Syndicate Lead. If you create an account by signing up to the platform directly, you will not see the deal until you accept the deal invite.

    1. It is important to make sure you are logging in with the same email when accepting the invite, as you won't be able to pass KYC on more than one account.

  2. Make your commitment and complete KYC (know your customer) and AML (Anti-money-laundering checks

    1. For customers investing over 12k in any currency as an individual, we are required by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to ask for a description of the source of funds eg. salary, share of sales, savings.

    2. For customers investing over 12k in any currency through a company, we are required by the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) to carry out the following checks. You can see the exact form we use to collect the information here:

      1. Collect legal name, proof of address and certificate of incorporation/registration of the investing entity.

      2. KYC on all PSCs (Persons with Significant Control). PSCs will be required to submit proof of identity and proof of address if they have not done so already (eg. because they already have an Odin account).

      3. A description of where the money you are investing came from eg. sales of product X or revenue from consulting services, investment activities.

  3. Wiring funds to our designated bank account.

    1. Please make sure to include the correct payment reference. If there is a payment reference included, the payment will automatically reconcile and you will receive a payment confirmation within 24 hours of the funds landing. It's often instant for GBP-GBP payments. International transfers can take up to 4 working days to clear.

    2. If there is no payment reference, the payment will not be automatically reconciled and it significantly delays the payment confirmation, especially for international transfers.

    3. If the payment details were entered incorrectly the payment will bounce and you will see the payment back in your account after a week.

  4. When the Syndicate Lead tells us they want to go ahead and complete the deal, investment documents are signed and funds are wired to the investee company. This can take anywhere between a week to 2 months, depending on the deal and how long it takes all investors to transfer funds.

  5. Within 2 weeks post-close we issue a set of documents to you, including a certificate of beneficial ownership which details your investment, fees, carried interest payable, etc.

  6. S/EIS certificates are issued after the investee company has submitted relevant applications to HMRC. We work together with the investee company on this and share all relevant information required for the application. US investors receive the necessary documents for their IRS filings once per year.

After you invest

  • You will be able to track your portfolio via the “portfolio view” on the Odin platform.

  • You will receive reports from the investee company or syndicate lead according to the reporting schedule outlined on the deal page
