Learn how to set up Global Site Tag with Okendo

Okendo’s integration with Global Site Tag (gtag) allows you to send event data to Google platforms, specifically Google Analytics 4 (GA4). You'll learn how using Okendo's widgets to display customer reviews and customer-generated content directly impact key commercial measures such as conversion rates, average order values, and repeat purchases.

You can use this guide to gain insights into have your Okendo reviews widget interactions collected in GA4.

ℹ️ If you are not using Global Site Tag as your analytics provider, Okendo also offers an integration with Google Tag Manager.

Before you begin

The Okendo + gtag integration makes use of your existing Google Analytics 4 Shopify Shopify setup. Make sure Google Analytics 4 is setup correctly in Shopify Shopify by following these steps:

ℹ️ If you are not comfortable editing your theme code, please speak with your developer to integrate gtag.js with your Shopify store.

Enable Global Site Tag in Okendo

  1. Open your Okendo admin.

  2. Navigate to Widget Settings (Settings > Widgets > General).

  3. Select Global Site Tag (gtag.js) in the Google Analytics Provider dropdown and click Save.

Viewing Captured Events

An interaction event is whenever a customer engages with the widgets in some way. For example:

  • Clicked “Show More” reviews

  • Filtered/sorted reviews

  • Clicked the star icons at the top of the product or collection page

  • Clicked on an image or video to enlarge it

  • Clicked up-vote or down-vote on a review

You can view captured events for Okendo widgets by going to the GA4 dashboard and following the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Events (Reports > Engagement > Events).

  2. Search for okendo_ in the search box and press Enter.
