Sell Until Time

Set a time to automatically stop online sales for your event.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Manage the window of time in minutes during which your patrons can purchase tickets with Sell Until Time. For example, to stop sales two hours before the event begins, input '-120'. To enable patrons to buy tickets 30 minutes after the event starts, input '30'.

There are a few reasons you might want to deploy a sell-until time. This might include:

  • To control last-minute ticket sales, ensuring patrons don’t purchase too close to showtime and overwhelm your box office or door staff.

  • To manage check-in and preparation time, giving your team a buffer to finalize seating, staffing, and safety protocols before performance starts.

  • To reduce refund or no-show issues, by disallowing sales during periods when attendees can no longer reliably attend.

Access the feature by find the event under Productions and clicking on Details.

🎓 Recap

On The Stage’s Show Details page lets you set a specific “Sell Until” cutoff time for ticket sales. This setting ensures that sales automatically stop ahead of the actual performance time, helping you close sales gracefully and maintain front-of-house logistics.

🚀 Best Practices

  • Align with venue policy: Set the cutoff at least 15–30 minutes before the performance starts—adjust based on your venue’s check-in process.

  • Communicate clearly: Add a note on your event page and confirmation emails about the ticket sale deadline (“Tickets close 30 minutes prior to showtime”).

  • Monitor performance: Review sales patterns—if many late orders are happening, consider moving the cutoff earlier.

  • Coordinate with staff: Inform box office and front-of-house teams of the closing time so they can prepare for final admissions.

  • Update when needed: For special events like intermission-only programming or bar service, consider adjusting the cutoff to reflect those specific needs.
