Tipping a driver is automated with our platform! A customer can add tips directly from their app.
“Tip” option can be activated in service settings.
Proceed to tab “Services” of your company panel, access any service, choose “Payment methods”, enable “Allow customer to tip” and press “Save”.
Important:
Both “Fixed cost” and “Allow customer to tip” options can not be set for the service. Showing "Fixed cost" before the trip and a different sum at the end due to tip addition would be bad UX.
Tip range allowance is from 5 to 30% of trip cost.
A passenger may set a standard tip % for this or that service in the “Payment methods” folder of the app.
Tap on “More items” icon of your customer app, find “Payment methods” folder in your side menu list, access the folder and set the “Default tip” value you need.
If “Default tip” is added, every time a booking is processed the tip will be added to the trip total automatically (for cash, terminal and card payment methods).
However, when such an order is offered to drivers, they will see trip cost excluding the tip. Drivers will be able to see the tip only at the end of the ride in the trip cost breakdown.
The customer will also see the notification on the applicable tip during the trip if the payment method is credit card.
“Default tip” can be amended by changing the tip % or by disabling it altogether:
- from “Payment methods” folder
- any time during the trip until the driver “swipes to finish”.
If "Default tip" is not set, tipping drivers for trips processed on “cash” and “terminal” payment methods is to be done outside the system. A customer just leaves the tips directly to a driver. Tips are not available for Wallet payment method.
In case no “Default tip” is set, but the service has “Tip” option activated, the customer will be offered to add a tip during the ride. This option is available for orders on credit card payment method only.
A customer may review every trip details and cost breakdown in the tab “My orders” of his app as well as Trip summary sent to client email.
Driver plan commission charges on orders with tips:
Driver order fee (dynamic and fixed) is charged on the trip cost excluding tips as tip is a driver's personal reward for good service.
Driver transaction fee (dynamic and fixed) is charged on the trip cost including tips, as the fee is charged on the final trip cost for the payment transaction itself.
If a customer adds a tip for a trip and has a discount coupon, the tip is calculated from the non-discounted trip cost.
If a customer adds a tip for a trip and a driver “adds extra”, the tip is calculated from the trip cost excluding the “extra” charge.
For example:
Trip cost is $10, tip is 10%, coupon discount is $2, “add extra” is $3.
The tip will be 10% from $10 = $1.
The discounted trip cost will be ($10 + $3) - $2 = $11.
Final cost will be $11 (discounted trip cost) + $1( tip) = $12.
